a bit about her…
Kelsey Ochs (she/her), owner and teacher, has been working with clay for over 20 years. Her training as a studio artist and architect informs her work, and she builds on years of involvement in community ceramics studios as a maker, teacher, and artist to run Throw Ceramics, a lifelong dream. After moving to Missoula in early 2020 she saw the need for more studio space to better serve the art community.
As a small business owner I am committed to supporting and aiding the current generation of indigenous people and all marginalized groups. Throw Ceramics welcomes all individuals and provides a safe space for all gender identities, religions, races, and sexual orientations.
As an active participant in the field of ceramics for many years, I have seen and felt firsthand the lack of diversity and inclusion within the ceramics community. Throw is committed to supporting BIPOC artists and those for whom the cost of a class is prohibitive, and will work to increase access in this practice. If you are involved in an BIPOC-led project or organization that works with art please reach out! We would love to offer our support and space. Montana-based projects preferred.
